a life well lived ~ he welcomes the light

He rests himself on a weathered railing
Turns his face to a chilling wind
Sweetly arms surround this moment
Faith restores their place again

Years have stripped away his worries
Thoughts embrace his aging mind
Free from pride, her name is whispered
Spirits soar to another time

Drying lips still taste her longing
Sweetest prayers in the morning rise
Lines trace skin she ever cherished
Heaven's realm now shares his prize

Time they knew always remembered
Fills the air with essence burning
Calms his fear with sacred promise
Life in death, his soul returning

Soon the dawn shall rise to take him
This earthly presence left behind
There he'll know her as forever
Waiting at the edge of time

A place beyond awaits his coming
As geese delight in morning flight
Eternal life with her is waiting
Calls him to the blessed light
