Three-year-old girl
She bathes me
Cooks and makes sure I have enough to eat
Takes me to the park
Tells me I am beautiful

She makes me pretty clothes
Reads to me
Keeps a turtle in a bowl
So I can learn to take care of things

We visit cousins, aunts, and uncles
Some of them have yards with swings
In the summer we go to the beach
Watch seagulls and pick up shells

I think about my mama
Why she left me here
When I ask about her
They just say she is gone
