Lexi's Poetry Contests: stay precious
Standing over the mahogany crib
My hand wavers just above the pink blanket
That is covers her small figure.
She's just a baby, only a few months old,
Yet all I can do is watch her breathe and hope
That I can give her everything she will need.

Such a precious moment;
Watching a child sleep.
It is something that can be found
Made of porcelain in a novelty store.
Yet, no amount of craft or skill
Can capture the moment I feel in my heart.

So much lies ahead, of both of us.
Years will go by as I watch
My little child grow and change.
There is only one thing that I would
Want to ask of her, for I hope she will always
Stay precious.
