The moving of my heart during retreat
Lord, you have probed me and you know me.
You know the innermost thoughts, desires of my soul and heart.
I could never hide from you, fear is useless to you, only hinders my growth. You are everywhere, hidden in plain view.
Your brightness eliminates the darkness around me
there is no hiding place from you.
You formed me in secret; beautiful is all your creation,
you formed the inside of my bone; my heart is no secret from your glance.
You are too precious to me too beautiful beyond my imagination. Even rare gems turn to dust, not you O Lord, your glory and beauty surpass all glories of the Earth.
Your designs are at my feet, so far beyond my reach.
I am weakened at the sight of your power and glory.
I need only you; for you give me each breath, food and drink in plenty.
Try me Lord; know my heart, make my concern your own,
if I turn down a wrong path, set me straight.
Do not abandon me or let me falter.
You have grasped me by the hand, am I then to let it go?
Should I walk beside you?
or behind you still holding your hand?
or worst of all should I walk in front of you, not sharing the heart, but leading you instead of you leading me?
Shall I instead walk next to you side by side as a young bride does her spouse?
shall I grasp your hand and never let it go. Hold on Forever.
Only say Amen, and it shall be forever.
Amen.
