My piece of happiness is dwindling
My Block of Happiness

There is a small block of happiness within.
It is the only source of joy I have to spend,
yet life continues to chip it away.
I’m left lonely, sad, and bitter

With every news story, broken promise, and empty hope
More of my innocence is lost.
I slip deeper and deeper into the black
Once the abyss is reached there is no coming back

Generosity is repaid with cruelty
And love meets with indignation.
An animal dies and a friend lies
Possessions are stolen, hearts broken.

The more pain felt the harder the block becomes.
The more lost the tighter I cling to what’s left
And the faster it slips away
Each step is further into the black
Once reached there is no coming back

Closer I get the more ruthless I become
Quicker to anger and slower to joy
More willing to go the path of destruction
Less likely to be restrained

Betrayed by friends and family
Ignored by my enemies
Black becomes white, and grey is everywhere
Darker, I become and goodness will stray

The black has passed the point of no return.
Light and innocence seep through my skin
Each, a step further into the black.
Once reached there is no turning back
There is no turning back
