The baobab trees weep, blood soaking into the sand...
The baobab trees weep,
blood soaking into the sand.
The children fear sleep
in their war-torn Mother Land.

Daughters kidnapped from mothers,
machetes weilded against fathers,
rifles fired upon brothers.
Yet, not many of us this bothers.

Corpses litter the roadside,
voices silenced forever.
How do we end this genocide?
Dare we rise up together,

as members of the human race
whose hearts break and minds wander
at the destruction taking place,
caused by evil left to plunder?

Families ripped apart
beneath the darkness of night.
Dreams massacred, cut short,
by soulless rebels in plain sight.

Darfur of onyx skin like a night sky,
of exhiled, innocent dark brown eyes,
the plight of your people we now decry,
as truth arises from decade-long lies.

Darfur, may your people remain strong
as the world grows more aware
of atrocities allowed to fester along,
creating chaos and despair.

Through charity, attention, and care,
may peace somehow eventually reign,
as the world works to end this nightmare
so thousands will not have died in vain.
