"Through The Windowpane"

Postcards

I came upon some postcards,
you stored with loving care.
Hidden in the basement
beneath the cellar stair.

Snapshots from our younger years,
time ran slower as it passed.
Summers were forever
and love would always last.

I miss you every day now,
loving laughter in your eyes.
I need to see you once again
for my lonely heart still cries.

Nothing more is left my love
but the postcards in my hand.
I can barely look at them,
I hope you'll understand.

I'll put them back inside the box
and shed a lonely tear.
Remembering the love we shared,
I'll always keep you near.
