Poem About Trip To The Dingle Peninsula
Meandering winding roads in the rain
Plunge through fog-shrouded Irish terrain
Cows graze contented past steep inclines
Destination beckons, as brakes whine

Shortened day in dark December
Warm fire hearth shoots crackling embers
Shall sticky toffee pudding be my choice?
Will my grief and longing ever find their voice?

Time flew away from me for a while
Destination Ireland dredged up a smile
Aer Lingus to Shannon, a car to Dingle
Christmas concert, crazy celtic mingle

Will there be a memory to embrace?
As I recall my mother's dying face...
Warmth wraps around my heart and spirit
Carry on the journey as we near it

Will I ever return to this southern town
Softly singing, soothing this enduring frown
Showing Christmas joy is in day's living
Not in the getting, but deep in giving.....
