The spectacular Wicklow Mountains are a maze of narrow chute and ladder roadways...
PRAYERS IN THE WICKLOW MOUNTAINS

Ascending steep inclines
Higher...higher
Roads that twist and wind like an open air maze
The heavens aspire to greatness
But these mountains are a formidable contender
A high spire on the top of the loftiest peak
Gracing the tallest apostolic church in Ireland
Not the modern marvel of technology it is thought
Do not forget God allows what He will...

Not intimidated initially
Lighthearted ascention into bliss
Reveling in it...reaching for it...
Anticipating the climb
The blue skies...the warm day
Tempting
Inviting
Tantelizing
Sheep grace unaffected by their position
Kneeling at the steps of Heaven

But then night began to fall
No destination reached
Poor dead lamb by the side of the road
Burned out chariots
Skies darkening
Roads narrowing
Options rapidly fleeing
Crying out to God
Show me the path...a light...the way...

Then the descent
As if into Hell itself
Through the slow agonizing process of limbo
Winding...
Winding down...
Down into the depths
No respite for the weary
No place on the side of the road
No turning back
Byways now wide enough for only one to pass
Road narrowing even more
Descending into the abyss of Never

When Enniskerry reached
The tears flow in gratitude
Night has fallen
My humility is great...
