My dear Uncle and Aunt. Married 65 years, Oct.10th.2007.
WONKA SHIM AND FERAL.

I'll tell you a tale of dear Jim and Beryl,
Affectionately called "Wonka Shim" and "Feral".
They are rellies of mine, Aunt and Uncle ,you see,
She's eighty-five and he's ninety-three.

They live every day like it was their last.
The speed they get up is faster than fast.
Maybe it's the pacemakers they carry around
To keep them both running, with an occasional bound.

They live in a village with other old folks,
Sharing good times and games and a few risque jokes.
I've never seen oldies so active and free,
If retirement's like this, let it come to me!

Ring them up to say "Hi" , just on a whim,
Beryl's on one phone,on the extension is Jim.
They'll give the same gossip, but to each his own version,
Then a row will ensue. I hang up in confusion.

They came for a visit, these wonderful folk,
HE fell out of bed, and SHE had a stroke!
We patched up his head and fixed his false teeth,
While she spent some days in the hospital's keep.

But, that didn't stop them. They got out and about,
And made me take them to the local lookout.
Then they wanted to climb all the stairs to the top,
I stayed in the car, watching them skip and hop.

Ask them a question of what it was like
When there were no cars, and they each rode a bike.
They'll tell of the old days with a memory so clear,
It's a pleasure to hear tales of their yesteryear.

When they go off on their last great big ride,
And meet with their Maker, they'll sit by His side
And organise picnics and parties and things.
Heaven won't be the same when these Angels get wings!

So until that time comes, we will cherish these two,
Wonka Shim and his Feral can teach me and you
How to live life and love and to stay feeling free.
Hope I'm just like them at eighty-five / ninety three.

For my two favourite people. Love you heaps.
Meg.

It is with a sad heart that I must say Aunty Beryl passed away on Monday, 15th March, 2010.
Uncle Jim is not well and is heartbroken, as is understandable.
I am so pleased I had the opportunity to visit them a few weeks ago.
Despite all of their medical problems, they were still the happy-go-lucky pair I have known and loved all of my life.

RIP Aunty Feral...Our world will not be the same without you, but you will remain in our hearts forever.
