A poem detailing the fight against the darkness within.
Floating somewhere in an ocean of darkness,
The waves of confusion crashing with abruptness.

I yell for help but I'm not worth saving;
As folks around me watch from safe havens.

I begin to go under, I kick and I flail.
Only the quitters are guaranteed to fail.

The harder I struggle, the more strength it reveals.
I kick, I sputter, I dig deep with my heels.

Exhaustion takes it's toll, I get hit once more,
sending me deep into darkness galore.

The strength and the courage that once filled my soul,
have decided to escape me, leaving a dreadful hole.

All hope has fled from me, I feel it's the end;
My soul too empty, to successfully mend.

After one last kick I start the descend.
One more life claimed by the darkness within.
