From Cocktail Napkin To Permanance
1. DROWNING

Sleeping, she floats drunken.
Waiting, I sink lonely.

Please
struggle to
stay
floating
here,
deep diver.

2.  Drying Out

after we’re clean

crying walls
she falls

wet
fingernails find
a towel I hold

waving white banner
surrender
awaiting saturation

I love her
hurting me

hiding tears
within walls

3.  Into Wishing

steam feels cold
to naked footprints
on fake tile.

evaporate stain
salt
sweat
clean.

condensation
our conversation
falls on me.

drip
dry.

4.One Night in Toronto

Lorraine’s jazz joint welcomes
late members who
swing morning awake
while strangers
introduced with sleepy winks,
stride across impassioned
red carpets.

Lucy, Sheri, and Tracy sprawl
in neon lights and blackened loveseats
to rival stellar creations.
