This poem came to me as I watched the sun rise over the Alps in Oberammergau.
Sitting alone
This foreign land feels like home
A life long dream fulfilled
Gazing out my bedroom window
Mountains and forest are what I see
Forest that thrive
Mountains which appear untouched
Capped with a dusting of snow
Secure in a casing of ice
The sun is coming
Rose hues take the horizon
The land is awakening
Three weeks will not be enough
To call this land my home
Orange joins with rose
Tiny diamonds seem to dot the snow
Yellow emerges
Light fills the small valley
A bird takes flight
I never want to leave this place
This foreign home land
Or this alpine sunrise
