         Wedding and a Wake


A wedding and a wake
held on the same day
same man’s sake
one leaves, one stays

one lights a candle
one floats away
wax melting handle
boat sails today

when the leaves own the trees
the truth shies a way
the beach holds the sea
I say go but mean stay

a judge and a jail
all moral decay
society has failed
mixing pleasure with play

a boy and a girl
so different yet same
and two, they fall
raw, refined, untame
