A walk on the darkside
There are things you shouldn't know
Things about me and others in this world you shouldn't understand
You trust in kindness of strangers, of the good in life.
You may not be pure, but you are innocent and should stay that way.
You shouldn't understand why I crave the dark,
You shouldn't view the world through my jaded gaze, it wouldn't be right.
You shouldn't need the searing sting, to see bright red drops,
You shouldn't yearn for the taste of iron and steel in order to feel alive.
Acidic, faithless sarcasm should not spew easily from you, nor should you have to listen to it.
We shouldn't be here like this now-
You shouldn't be hearing this, shouldn't be holding my head up, shouldn't witness this...
I shouldn't be so weak, to break in front of you
To show you this side of life, the need to touch the darkness to know,
To know deep down there is light, to know and be what I am really not, just to know I am not.
I am sorry, all I give you is 'shouldn'ts'
You deserve better-
Much better than the tainted visions I offer.
