I tried to pack as much meaning as I could into 69 words...
The heart: does it pump blood?
…Or let you love?

Some hearts are fragile, as if paper or wax,
And never allow you to progress.

Perhaps, then, you don’t think you need it.
…You do.

Some hearts are stone, and let nothing in,
For breaking and bleeding can’t intrude upon your sober peace then.

Maybe you don’t believe in it…
…Until the soft flesh makes contact with your own…
