A poem written back when I was a teenager.
Please remember this poem was written between 1984-1986. It is part of a collection of teenage poetry I would like to get published. I would like to collect an array of poetry written by teenagers, to fill my book "Teenage Treasures".

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

Living her life all alone,
No one, no time, no place.
Many people in this world,
Easily forget her face.

She’s a diamond in the rough.

Plain and simple, quiet and shy,
Beauty and friendship she didn’t know.
Nobody has ever looked deep inside,
For inside her beauty did show.

She’s a diamond in the rough.

A hidden treasure – her heart of gold,
No one took time to see.
The simplicity of her face – a mask,
That hid a beauty queen.

She’s a diamond in the rough.

But not a word heard from her lips,
Not once did she complain.
She kept it deep within her,
She never showed the pain.

Because she’s a diamond in the rough.
