Letters Home

Hi mom.
Well we got our orders today, we'll be leaving in a
couple of days for parts unknown. Don't worry about
me, I'll be safe and I'll be home before you know it.

Dear mom.
We made it here, wherever here is, wish I could tell
you but that's a huge no can do. Things are not bad,
the weather is ok and the food tolerable. They are
taking pretty good care of us so far. Well it's time
for pt, I'll call when I can.

Dear mom,
I know it's been a while since I last wrote but things
here have been wild. We've been out on patrol every
day or night since my last letter and I have really
been too tired to write. Seems like all we do is
patrol, eat, and sleep. Things are getting sort of
hairy, we're seeing a little more action than we were,
but don't worry mom we're taking care of each other,
my team is the best.
I know if I tell you not to worry you will anyway but
don't worry mom, I'll be home before long.

Hey mom,
I'm guessing by the time you get this you will have
seen the news. It's been bad over here but I'm ok. We
lost a couple of our guys today in a fire fight which
I'm sure you already heard about it, I know how fast
bad news travels. Anyway I'm safe and sound. I'll call
tomorrow after I get some rest.

Hi mom, it sure was good hearing your voice the other
day. I wish we could have talked longer but there are
so many guys wanting to call home none of us talk too
long so we all get the chance to use the phones. It's
hard to believe it's been almost a year since I left
home. If all goes well I should be back in a couple of
months. Keep your fingers crossed. Tell dad to give
you a big hug for me. See you soon!

Good morning mom!
Well I have my paper work, it's official, I'll be
leaving in 10 days to come home. I can't wait to see
you guys and taste some of your good home cooking.
Well there is a lot to do before I can leave so I
better start. I do not want to miss that bird home.

Morning news:
This morning four soldiers died when their convoy was
ambushed. In an ironic twist of fate all 4 were
heading to the plane that would have and even now will
carry them home.


One of them was holding a letter that began;
Dear mom,
I'm coming home…
