A typical writers block; ironic that it happened in a poem on writing!
A Writer’s Block

A scratch and a whoosh! A dragon strikes;
scoring its dark fire across the fields of history.
A thunderous hammering, excited rattle,
spelling out love, hate, death and glory.

To wander the open fields, green in summer,
to fly above the ocean, on high – a bird.
To stand a billion light years from where men speak,
to hear clear as crystal every word.

Terror grips you in a clutch of ice,
the monster grins and bares his jaws.
You defeat it though, such bravery unsurpassed,
but then, like history, the past is yours.

The future too is yours to behold,
the universe exploding, filling your eyes.
