This isn't as dark as it may sound, but I like it.
Dark Diamond

Every light twinkles from a thousand facets,
The world shining darkly in deepest brilliance.
The air clear despite the falling water,
A black diamond, holding the world in opalescence.

They pass by with flashes of red and white,
Here and there a swatch of orange blinks.
Turning and speeding this way and that,
Their paths afflicted by shining kinks.

Its peaceful, for all the speeding noise,
The whooshing that soaks me through,
From head to toe, my clothes are dripping,
With the oily scent of road borne dew.

Here is my kingdom, in star studded night,
So many colours alive in darkness.
Here is home, familiar and warm,
Kept safe by evenings friendly caress
