At it's core, the poem reflects the illusion of an abuser from a victim's pov.
Like a mystic wanderer, I sought Nirvana
I sought it in your arms.
Sirens called me to your side.
Fate evoking all her charms.
Shadows fell and light was cast,
the sun shone from your face.
Dreams and wishes came to pass;
things fell into place.

But as I walked along with you;
my savior, my white knight.
Your angel wings had fallen off
and shadow reclaimed light.
As illusion dies I see
there's so much to be revealed
As I travel through the lies, I know
there's so much to be healed.

For where once kisses pressed
make-up conceals the truth.
Once a life ahead
becomes a stolen youth.
Where one illusion met defeat
another sowed its seeds
to hide the broken soul;
to produce flowers among the weeds.

Flowers only bloom in spring
and winter finds no rose.
And like the fragile petals,
this illusion comes to a close.
I'll move on to warmer climates
find a sun with far more fire.
No longer shall illusion
be synonymous with desire.
