The unseen suffering of a colour blind person
COLOUR BLINDNESS

I’ve a disability,
Known as colour blindness.
It means I can never see
An object’s true likeness.

What others may see as red,
I may see it as green.
I see only gray shades where
Others see a bright sheen.

When my wife is buying clothes,
To her I can’t explain,
Why for colours that move her,
I have, rather, disdain.

My artistic talents from
Painting I did withdraw.
That this would be suicidal,
Plain as my hands I saw.

Yet what has been painting’s loss
Is now poetry’s gain.
I am a poet as from
Painting I did abstain.
