The two compliment each other 6 quatrains, AABB, 11 syl. per line
As kids watching stars we would tend to forget.
Waiting out those hot days - longing for sunset.
Having no cares about what life threw our way.
No pondering questions, what to do today?

Tantalizing colors together all blend.
Now that we're older we have less time to spend.
The sun goes out of bounds; dusk waiting for dawn.
Giving to gravity, my face forms a yawn...

Romantic at times, yet always held in awe.
Sunsets so grand, we couldn't find any flaw.
Wondering if this one would ever be topped.
Until the next evening when our chins dropped.

Much needed rain for farmers fields growing grain.
Approaching storms bring danger time to refrain.
Chimney clouds nearing, feeling hairs stand on end.
Say a quick prayer hoping time's left to mend...

Mysterious and dark, they could hypnotize.
Trying not to blink, or briefly close our eyes.
Fearing we'd miss the lightning bolts and thunder.
Storms over Kansas flats held us in wonder.

Memories of thunderstorms smashing down wheat.
Watching Mother Nature - life just can't be beat.
Huge wind gusts with bruised clouds sway and break treetops.
Watch sunsets and storms until that big ball drops...
