a song of shield maidens
The Valkyrie

Within a realm of glass and crystal, out on the far side of the Moon,
across the Plain of Worlds Forgotten where the gryphons build their tombs;
I am a Maid of ghosts and whispers;
a black armored champion of dreams
I guard the rainbowed Bridge of Always. I wear the colors of the Queen

I am the sifting of the hourglass. The slow spilling grains of Time.
I gather in the heroes whoes deaths are worthy of the Rhyme
Colder than a memory.
A bitter cup of poisoned wine.
I am the bleeding of the wounded on the battlefields sublime

I am the purple reign of evening. The scent of wild rose at night
I am the heavy tread of silence through the darkness to the light
A moon-wet shadow, dripping silver;
won and lost through clenching fists.
Cruel as steel and soft as cobweb. An ancient mariner of mists.
