written in response to a friend telling me that they had thought about committing suicide.
Observing my virgin wrists

I push my nail deep in the skin

And drag it across leaving a mark

It turns red from irritation

But I only see blood slowly trickling down

My virgin arm.

I will have to prepare for the time to come

The ceremony of the cutting

It must be perfect,

The timing just right

I will lay in my watery grave

narrow and white

Ready for the deed

I will place my razor carefully on the edge

And when the water is nice and warm

I will emerge myself in it at once

With a slow and sensual drag of the razor

I will open the veins once closed since birth

And let them drop to the bottom of the tub

Slowly awaiting my eyes to become heavy with sleep

then I will sleep never to wake up

With a hint of my smile seen on my lips

All the while thinking:

"I have come so far and here is where it shall end,

Here in my fantasies and my dreams, for once they

Will finally become reality."
