Grandpa Bob was a great man. We miss him.
Grandpa Bob was a brilliant man.
There was nothing he could not understand.
He loved to fix everything around,
To make things better than when it was found.

There wasn't a puzzle he couldn't solve,
No, not one problem he couldn't resolve.
A complex design was a simple task,
He could build it and really quite fast.

He used the tools he had on hand,
To repair his projects as best he can.
Some pliers, a hammer, electrical tape,
Then some wire... to make it sit straight

With grandpa’s kind nature, you needn't repay.
He was glad to fix it, no matter what day.
There wasn’t a payment he’d ask of you,
But a plate of fresh cookies was the least we could do.

Grandpa's mind never could rest.
And for many years he gave it his best.
Then the gears in his head began slowing down.
After decades of use, they wouldn't turn 'round.

That's the day we thought he forgot.
But a major gear was stuck in mid thought.
His precious mind was worn to its core.
He'd used it so much, it would turn no more.

A smaller sprocket was all that remained,
Years before his final time came.
When that last, lonely sprocket slowed to a stop,
To our surprise, his fragile body still fought.

There's nothing of grandpa we can replace,
His heart, his kindness, that grin on his face.
Our memories of him are a special part.
So from this day on, he'll be in our hearts.
