An afternoon spent at a spring in the forest
The small spring of water dominated the clearing. Lush green plants crowded the far edge while branches crossed overhead, confining the light into beams that struck the water like rivers of magic flowing down from the sky, casting wondrous reflections off the surface. Despite the heavy growth of trees, the clearing was well kept and the underbrush trimmed back, revealing an occasional deer or forest creature that came to the spring in search of water. Squirrels cavorted among the pines, leaping from branches to scurry down to the forest floor in search of food. The peace and tranquility seemed nearly tangible here as I sit under the branches of the largest tree. There were no cars, no talking, nor any sounds of the television and radio.
No civilization, just peace.
