A tribute to my dad, my true inspiration
As you sat down beside me, and held my hand tight,
I slipped down on the bench, with no hope in sight.
I was drowning in tears, and you wiped them away,
you said my dear wife, you'll see him again one day.

I listen to the preacher, as he said a few kind words,
but couldn't stop shaking, from the rattling of my nerves.
How can I do this, I can't let him go,
This isn't happening, I told myself so.

I stood by his casket, while everyone stopped to say,
I'm so sorry for your loss, can I help you in some way?
Why must this happen, especially to him,
he brought so much light, to a world that is dim.

I didn't expect you to go, at such a young age,
and leave me here, with so much resintment and rage.
I can't get past this feeling of sorrow,
maybe their right, it'll be better tomorrow.

As I take my last look, I fall to your chest,
and I watch them lower you, to your final rest.
I know you'll be perfect now, with wings of flowing white,
I throw my rose on your casket, and bid you goodnight.
