A poem about character and how I trusted God, and how he proved his word to me.
Vain is the soul of the warrior
who thinks that in the strength of his own,
that he did obtain the victory,
when it could not have been  accomplished alone.

So I shall not boast in triumph,
nor ridicule the foe that was faced,
but I will speak of him with dignity,
in a spirit if humility and grace.

For I sought not to put asunder
the aspirations of another man,
but to pursue my dreams with honor,
and simply do the best I can.

And while I now reap the spoils of the victor,
let not my compassion be blind by the prize,
for I to have seen the victor,
through the pain of vanquished eyes.

Yet no tribute nor accolade or glory
that I may receive from my success,
will ever be treasured like that of the conquering,
of all the adversity along the quest.

For when all that stood around me,
did tremble and fear the worst,
I rose and proclaimed more loudly,
that I put my Savior first.

Did not his word say clearly,
he would give you the desires of your heart?
For I had committed my ways to his ways,
so I stood, "on the WORD OF GOD".

So when the trials of this past endeavor,
did try to force me to succumb,
I would not yield the battle,
now stand with victory won.

"And, if tomorrow no longer remembers,
who stood as champion here today,
in my heart the journey traveled,
will never fade away".

So blessed am I,
but surely would not be,
without believing in the one
"WHO FIRST BELIEVED IN ME."
