Nothing really lasts
All things have an end
Soon it will all pass
Except a real friend

What starts then must stop
We like to pretend
What’s let go must drop
But not a true friend

Dark gives way to day
It will not pretend
Or attempt to stay
Not like a real friend

One is stead and fast
It won’t break or bend
One for sure will last
And that’s a true friend
