The loss of a close buddy in Vietnam.

William

I served my country I took my turn
I lost some buddies who did not return
Our platoon was ambushed that day
A week after I Vietnam for the states

I am alive but my buddies are dead
Feel guilty I was not there with them
We battled the Viet-Cong in Vietnam
They gave their lives those brave men

You're thousands of miles from home
It's good to have friends of your own
They become brothers one big family
When I found out my friend was killed

Was as if I had lost one of my brothers
Many honorable men gave their lives
You sleep in peace my brave buddies
I know you are in heaven my friends

For you left hell serving in Vietnam
