The Jesus In Me

I think back sometimes
On how I was
Before the Jesus in me

The things I went through
The troubles I had
Before the Jesus in me

All the desperate times
And the restless nights
Before the Jesus in me

The things I said
The life I led
Before the Jesus in me

Pride, hardheadedness
Disrespect, discontent
Before the Jesus in me

All the hurt and pain
The foolishness and ill-gained
Before the Jesus in me

I marvel at the blessings
The ways made out of no way
Before the Jesus in me

Oh, how I’ve changed
Disbelief in the life I have now
Because of the Jesus in me

Peace and Joy
Safe in His arms
Because of the Jesus in me

Hope and Might
Power in His sight
Because of the Jesus in me

If He never gives me another thing
I am so abundantly blessed
Because of the Jesus in me

Can’t wait to see
How He’ll keep blessing me
Because of the Jesus in me

Even though I’ll still fall short
And be forever undeserving
I rest assured in knowing
I am kept
Because of the Jesus in me

If I just keep my eye on the prize
And strive for Him
Honor and obey, worship and praise Him
His will be done
Because of the Jesus in me
