Hey, Hey am I alone here?
Slipping into forgetfulness

I'm older and forgetful
and fading with the time
like something that was written
in useless words of rhyme.
-
But I've never got beyond
the story I was told
about the headless horseman
back in the days of old.
-
I remember all to well
the cupboard that was bare
when Mother Hubbard looked for
the bone she thought was there.
-
In my mind I still recall
as well as anything
those silly little lyrics
to songs that we would sing.
-
So if you think I'm slipping
into some senile stage
then maybe you should wonder
what's written on your page.
-
For if you can't remember
then surely you'll agree
that you are growing older
and slipping just like me.
