We've All Been Here

She looked at me and smiled
then said, "I thought you'd never make it!"
I looked at her and thought,
"I really didn't think you cared."

I glanced at her, and saw
that she was prancing for my shadow.
She fawned at me, and bet
I was as stupid as the rest.

Within the space that is
between embarrassment and honour;
confusion owns a room,
where indecision holds the key.

I watched her dance, and mused
upon the younger bulls who buy it.
I'd warn them, if I thought
that they'd believe I've been with you.

This broken soul is lost,
within embarrassment and honour.
His ego can't admit
he might have even been to blame.

I glanced around to see
that I was dancing with my shadow.
My dreams have bought a room,
where disappointment drinks alone.
