My Halloween poem. Not meant to be scary! Ever looked in a mirror, contemplating life?
I looked inside the mirror
And saw not my reflection
Instead, a recollection
That let my eyes see clearer.

I ingest your bloody nectar -
Just enough to suffice,
I'm a prisoner of this vice:
I must haunt humans like a spectre.

You can't enjoy this life,
In drinking blood I don't rejoice
Would you, if there was the choice?
Too much effort, too much strife.

I once lived my life free -
And though I fill you with terror,
Just look inside your mirror
To see what I used to be.
