A mix of poem, monologue, and something else.Inspired by old halloween superstions
"Listen, Listen...Tick-tock, Tick-tock"

Coffin [Cof-fin, Kaw-fin, Kof-in]~ Origin; Old French meaning; "A box for precious things." The taking of a loved one is something one doesn't ever truly get over, and really its harder to define if its the memories or loss of the person that makes the reality of it worse?

Hear this ticking clock
death comes a' walkin'
watch the pendulum swing
the door it opens to death.

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock
death calls the one appointed
against hopes and faith
everything silently slows to the stop.

Death's a tricky bitch and misery loves company but she'll never foot the bill. Often pondering if death spares taking too many at once to prove that life is a deceiving season, the temporary respite of grace before the silence of the grave?.

Make the offer, strike the deal,
for death to take only this one this time
the deal is true to the uneasy truce
between the cradle and grave.

Death leaves the same way it came
the door closes the way back in,
or is it the way back out?
listen, listen, lovely.

It always ends the same, death it comes creepin' and takes away the brightest blaze and leaves an empty shell. The deal is broken and the offer reformed again and again to new faces and broken hearts.

Listen, listen, lovely
can't you hear it? the clock
is silent for one, its pendulum stopped
life is gone, just a shell, others mourn.

Death once again came
and gone just as quickly back into
its own deceiving shadows, tick-tock,
tick-tock, the cycle starts over again,
another one heeds to deaths grave-calling-touch.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.
