The Land of Dragonflies

There’s a place not far from my house that I call ‘Perfection’, where the sky is

bright blue with fluffy white clouds, and the sun shining high in the sky. I go there

by paddle boat to relax or to venture through the clear water stream. But you should

work to relax; it always feels better if you do. I search for a hat, put on any

sunscreen that I can find, pack a snack and finally pull the boat into the pond. I

slowly start gliding through the water and enjoy the breeze that blows my hair out of

my face. I am calmed by the sound of lapping water. About halfway to Perfection ,I

stop paddling and gently place my feet in the water. It feels cool against my hot

skin. I gaze around me at the stunning day as I drift closer to Perfection.

When you approach Perfection, it’s as if you are looking at a fairy tale

illustration. A long path of smooth rocks with water trickling through them, leading

to a strip of shallow clear water with an island of rocks and sand in the center.

Vivid green ferns border the water. A fallen birch tree serves as a resting bench.

There are bushes with bright red and purple berries that attract dragonflies the color

of midnight and turquoise. The water moves very slowly due to a giant tree that fell

sideways across the river. It’s been there awhile, so frogs now live in it and seem to

chirp happily when you approach. I especially enjoy the company of the dragonflies

and imagine that they are little fairies. It is so beautiful and peaceful, a perfect

place for reading, writing and imaging.

That it why I call it Perfection.
