I read "The City Night Sky by {suser:harryg} and thought a bit about what it meant to me.
Unraveling the Stars

The professor wrote of city lights;
how they keep the stars' glow at bay.
The professor wrote of city lights.

Nightly dog walks, lit bright as day,
made me think of other scientists again,
how they keep the stars' glow at bay.

I wonder if this counted as loss or gain.
Now the entire world slowly illuminated,
made me think of other scientists again.

Once on a bayou I took a sign for moon, red.
Even restaurant billboards banish the dark.
Now the entire world; slowly illuminated.

I seek the solitude of a corner to park,
away from the harsh light that sears eyes.
Even restaurant billboards banish the dark.

Still I cast a shadow, despite all tries,
away from the harsh light that sears eyes.
The professor wrote of city lights.
