a pantoum inspired by Leonard Cohen's song, "Song of Bernadette".....the Divine Feminine
Song of Bernadette

The song takes me down to a place by the river.
I remember my childhood and the longing for love.
Aching, like Bernadette, a child, not a sinner,
I prayed fervently to the Lady above.

I remember my childhood and the longing for love.
My own mother lost in currents of madness,
I prayed fervently to the Lady above,
please hold me, and rock me, wash away all my sadness.

My own mother lost in currents of madness,
I cried out to the feminine face of God,
please hold me, and rock me, wash away all my sadness.
Dearest Bernadette, you weren't really so odd.

I cried out to the feminine face of God,
the wine-dark womb, the Eternal Healer,
the Divine Mother, to teach and to prod.
The song takes me down to a place by the river.
