A young soldier takes leave of his mother to go to the war front.
MA, DON'T CRY

Ma, don’t cry for this soldier,
Who is trying to check tears,
As he takes leave of you now
Never to retrace his track.

Ma, I owe myself to you;
You made me what I’m today.
You taught me in protecting
My country, my duty lay.

Ma, it’s time to show you now
Your lessons were not in vain.
Your son seeks your permission
That he may martyrdom gain.
