Every year, we grow, and every year, we choose...
The Choice
Every year, we grow, and every year, we choose….

Each coming year, life changes,
and you always can make a decision:
Either you go on and move on with it,
or choose to pursue a different vision.

They say it’s really not a decision at all.
They say that you have to go on,
and that you have to fly or fall.

But the truth is, you can decide.
You could stay in the past, couldn’t you, or would you
be worried that one day you would change your mind?

You might think, Maybe staying with the familiar and known
is not the best thing to do, the easy thing to do,
as so many have deponed?

You could also step forward tentatively but surely, scared but ready.
Go on to the unknown and uncertainty, whatever’s waiting,
and move forward to the future filled with dark and fair,
purity and ruin, faith and despair, and loving and hating.

The choice is difficult – do you know what you would pick?
Would you choose what you know is safe, or dive into the unknown?
Either one brings both good and bad, science and magic.

But I guess we all know what we have to choose, in the end.
I guess we all know what we have to face, by the end
I guess we all know it doesn’t matter, at the end

Every year, we grow, and every year, we get a bit closer to the end
