This is one of the first (good) poems I wrote; I was in seventh grade.
I stepped into the darkness,
A deeper black than the vast night sky,
And I heard the door creak shut,
As I noticed a pair of rougish, green eyes.
I tried to think of happy thoughts
As I heard a loud, shrill cry,
But the only thought that came to me
Was "I hope that I don't die."
