The dogs next door aren't very nice, certainly not sugar and spice
Written for "The Writer's Cramp 1-19-08
Prompt: Write a poem or story about the dog next door. Is he evil, ridiculous, cute, or troublesome and how does it effect you (or your character?)

30 lines (limerick)

The dogs next door aren't so nice,
certainly not sugar and spice
my mom says to move
my nerves then to soothe
perhaps I should take her advice...

The dog to our west is a pest
he barks all day without rest
'til his owners come home
and give him a bone
'cause he makes them think he's the best.

The dog to our east is a beast
she thinks my trash is a feast
she knocks it all down
and strews it around
so the garbage man can't find a piece.

The dog to the north is a horse
just like a huge god from the Norse
he runs through my flowers
for hours and hours
you'd think he was hurricane force.

The dog to the south is a lout
his ear I surely would clout
if I wasn't so scared
'cause his teeth are all bared
whenever he's out and about.

So here is my canine conundrum
you'd think my life would be humdrum
but here in the middle
I'm fit as a fiddle
from running 'round chasing off dog scum.
