THE ROAD TO NOWHERE

Many a mile I've traveled the road
and many a night I've looked back
to see if what used to be beckons
homeward, yet any direction I lack.

The road is full of twists and turns
and nowhere do I see a sign
that would lead me to the finish
so for now I'm just marking time.

The salty tears I've carried with me
do little to ease the pain of today.
I've carried all the grief I've known
and somehow I've lost my way.

Still I believe that if I keep going
the road will lead to a happy end
and I will feel right at home at last
somewhere beyond the next bend.

I've got to renew my faith and trust
and take life like a woman should.
I've got to generate some spunk
and see that my life can be good.

If you have to travel down the road
and you somehow feel all is lost,
it wouldn't hurt to turn right around
no matter what the pain has cost.

I was on the road to nowhere
so I turned around and went home,
It's a winding road I have followed
and I had walked it all alone.
