Entry for the Amazing 55 word story contest.
I roved foliage, searching for red.

“I’m done!” he announced.

I saw the bushel and gasped, “They’re all green!”

His proud eyes glistened.

I smiled. “They’re perfect.”

At home, I baked apple dumplings. Delighted, I savored my delectable first bite.

He gazed at me and smiled. “They’re perfect, Mama!” Untouched dumplings remained on his plate.
