Turn Left At The Willow Tree
Turn Left At The Willow Tree

"I'm on my way over," she said and then hung up abruptly

I kept writing, not even breaking my stride

The phone rang again-

"You're off Culver Rd, right?" and she hung up again before I could answer her

I polished off a mixture of rotgut and spit from the bottom of a rocks glass

And continue with my typing.....

Again........"Where do I turn?"...."You're on the main road?"

Once again she hung up before I could reply

Stupid bitch, too many interruptions and I've lost my train of thought

I got up from the table, and poured the last of the whiskey into my glass

I heard a car coming and got to the window just in time to see her turning right

Away from my apartment, away from my now ill writing, and away from my all to empty glass

I'm to blame, I guess

But she should've waited for directions
