impression of a sea side town i visited
I traveled to a quiet little town by the sea
Coconut trees stood tall unbending
Empty beaches lay spread forever
Waiting it seemed for a first shout.

Tiny houses with tinier verandahs
Dotted the hills around
All with red tiled roofs
As though greeting in unison.

Benches on the sidewalks forsaken
Narrow roads stretched on
Here and there a single soul walked
In paces unhurried.

Shopkeepers stood yawning
Their tiny shops full of dust
Pouches of shampoos lined
Eggs and cigarettes they had all.

There was an air of waiting
Of a shout ,of a cry?
Of a son gone for war?
Of a stranger with fresh roses?

The town seemed from a past
When it was ahead of all
Now it slept and yawned waiting
By the blue sea.
