loss of a loved one without sadness
Momentary solace

Sometimes my love,
Thinking of you calms me.
Thinking of your passing angers me.
Thinking of your laughter gladdens me.
Thinking of you still feels like love.
Even though you are gone.

Sometimes my love,
What I once got from you,
I now still get from you,
Even though you are gone.

Sometimes, my love,
I feel you near.
I smell cigarette smoke where there
Could not possibly be any,
I feel the whisper of a hand gently in my hair.
And, I feel your love surround me,
Even though you are gone.

Sometimes my love,
Just thinking of you brings me peace,
Brings me joy at having had you in my life,
Brings me sadness at your loss,
But most of all, my love,
Brings me awareness that
Even though you are gone,
You really never left me.
