Taken by the hand, and led down the safest path
Paths

I remember a time when you took me by the hand, a time when you led me down the safest paths, just you and I.
Then I remember being distracted.  I was no longer content to just hold your hand, and let you choose the trail.  I remember purposely going a way you said not to, just because it looked more fun.  I shake my head when I remember how steep it got.  I am ashamed to remember how you cried when I fell, and ran to help me up.
Now I stay by your side, my arm around your hunched shoulders.  I keep you on your feet when you stumble, and I choose the easiest way home.
