Floating downstream, going with the flow, and rapids come
The Rapids

It seems I'm always going with the flow.  I float down stream in my canoe, letting the current carry me.  It seems I've always been fine that way, sitting in my little boat.  I barely need to paddle at all.  But now I see rapids ahead.  I know I need to act.  But it's been so long since I used my paddle.  It seems I don't remember how.  My paddle slaps off the water's surface as I try to steer.  The rapids are almost here.  I try again, lowering my paddle once more, harder this time.  The powerful current wrenches my only means of steering from my grasp, and carries it away.  Then the rapids come.
